Important rule changes

As of Sep 1, 2008, ITTF has banned any alterations to rubbers, including speed gluing and applying boosters even if it does not contain VOC (volatile organic solvents). The rubbers must be used as they were authorized by ITTF, that is, the only thing you can do after you buy a rubber is to attach it to your blade using water-based glue.

As of Jul 1, 2008, frictionless long-pips rubbers have been banned.

Sep 1, 2002, hiding the ball from the receiver while serving became illegal.
