Important rule changes

ITTF is going to ban any alterations to rubbers, which include not only speed glueing, but any speed tuning using recent VOC-free boosters as well.
- Although this rule change has not been officially announced, the ITTF President, Mr. Sharara, clearly mentioned it in his letters to table tennis equipment vendors.
Sep 1, 2008, all speed glues using volatile organic compounds will be banned.

Jul 1, 2008, frictionless long-pips rubbers will be banned.
- In the latest list of ITTF authorized rubbers (PDF) , the ones marked with green dagger symbol (†) will be removed from the list.
Sep 1, 2002, hiding the ball from the receiver while serving became illegal.
